Residents of Olorunsogo Community in Ijebu-Ode Lament Flooding after Heavy Rain Downpour

Rresidents of Olorunsogo community along the Old Lagos road in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state have lamented the recent flooding of their area after the heavy rain downpour on Sunday June 20, 2021.

Some of the residents while speaking with Super FM News, complained that there was lack of gutters and culverts to hold the rain, with water trickling down from various parts of Ijebu-Ode town to the community.

The Chairman of Olorunsogo Local Council Development Area, HAZZAN ABIODUN, while speaking with newsmen appealed to the government to find a way to divert the waters from their area to a suitable place.

The Transition Committee Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Engr. GBENGA OLUGBILE on his part, said residents of the community failed to erect drainages in front of their buildings which contributed to the flooding.

Engr. OLUGBILE also appealed to residents of Olorunsogo community in particular and Ijebu-Ode in general to stop discriminate dumping of refuse in the drainage as it will eventually lead to flooding.
