The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Professor AKIN ABAYOMI, has said private hospitals were not allowed to treat COVID-19.

ABAYOMI was speaking in Ikeja, in reaction to a COVID-19 patient who died at a private hospital in Lagos.

He said although private hospitals could treat pneumonia, they can’t treat any covid-19 case, as it is still an issue of the state and national security that cases of COVID-19 are managed in recognized facilities.

He further added that if a patient was admitted to a private hospital with a suspected case of corona virus and is tested positive, such patient is transferred to an accredited and recognized isolation facility.
