The Burundi Football Federation has suspended league matches; two weeks after the country confirmed its first case of corona virus.

The federation had earlier refused to suspend matches saying it had introduced measures to protect players against the virus.

However, in a recent statement, the federation says after analyzing the competition it has seen that it is still possible to achieve the May 30 deadline to submit finalists for international competitions.

The federation says it is re-arranging the calendar and would resume local competition before the deadline.

Burundi is the only African country that was still having football matches despite the ongoing corona virus pandemic.
