The appointment was approved by Governor Umar Namadi following recommendations from the Gumel Emirate Council kingmakers and the Jigawa State Council of Chiefs.
Until his appointment, Sani was the Chiroman Gumel and served as Director of Cyber Security at the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the Jigawa State Government, Bala Ibrahim, Governor Namadi congratulated the new Emir and wished him many years of successful service to the Gumel Emirate and the nation.
He further expressed appreciation to the Emirs of Hadejia, Kazaure, Ringim and Dutse, who form the Jigawa State Council of Chiefs, for their invaluable advice during the process.
The government prayed for Allah to forgive the late Emir’s shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
