The Osun State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kolapo Alimi, and the NDC Lagos West senatorial candidate, Barrister Ladipo Johnson, have described Saturday’s Osun Governorship election as an important moment for Nigeria’s democracy and called for lessons to be drawn from the conduct of the poll.
Mr. Alimi, while speaking on Super 92.7 FM’s current affairs show, SPOTLIGHT, earlier today, said the election should first be seen as a victory for Nigerians, particularly the people of Osun State who demonstrated resilience and determination by coming out to exercise their civic responsibility.
He added that the governor is making plans to look into the killings recorded during the election, stressing that despite the challenges, the people of Osun State stood firm and made their choice.
Barrister Johnson, on his part, called for the establishment of a formal panel of inquiry to look into the killings recorded during the election.
He added that there is a need to establish the facts surrounding the incidents and ensure that those responsible are identified and held accountable.
