The Social Democratic Party 2027 presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo has expressed reservations about the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) policy and argued that education is a fundamental right that should be made accessible to all citizens.

Mr. Adewole, while speaking on Super 92.7 FM's current affairs show, The Spotlight, stated further that it is the government's responsibility to invest in the future of its people, and that education should be free, particularly at the basic and tertiary levels.

He added that a nation develops more effectively when quality education is provided without placing financial burden on students and their families.

Mr. Adebayo also questioned the long-term implications of relying on student loans as a solution to educational challenges.

He argued that while NELFUND may provide temporary financial relief, it does not address the deeper issues affecting the education sector, such as inadequate funding, poor infrastructure, and unequal access to educational opportunities.
