APC taunts Obi over ADC exit, says former LP candidate seeking “free ticket”

The Felix Morka, National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, has criticised former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following his resignation from the African Democratic Congress.

In a post shared on X on Sunday, Morka described Obi as a “political rolling stone,” accusing the former Anambra State governor of moving from one political platform to another in search of what he called an easy route to the presidency.

“Peter Obi, a political rolling stone that gathers no moss… roaming again in search of free, uncontested, unchallenged presidential ticket… never willing to remain to build any party,” Morka wrote.

He further alleged that Obi prefers a path to power that avoids internal party contests.

“He fantasises to be president on a ticket delivered only on a platter of gold… APGA, PDP, LP, ADC, on to NDC,” he added.

The APC spokesman concluded by describing Obi as a “political drifter.”

“Fare thee well, Nigeria’s inconsolable political drifter,” Morka stated.

Obi had earlier announced his departure from the African Democratic Congress, citing internal crises within the party and what he described as a toxic political climate.

In a statement released on Sunday, Obi said the decision followed deep reflection over persistent internal disputes and divisions which, according to him, had diverted the party’s attention from addressing pressing national concerns.

He maintained that his decision was not driven by personal disagreements with former Senate President David Mark or former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, both of whom he said he continues to hold in high regard.

The former Labour Party flag bearer also reiterated that he is not desperate for political office, stressing that his overriding commitment remains the welfare of Nigerians and the task of building a more functional society.

Despite his exit from the party, Obi reaffirmed his belief that competent, compassionate and purposeful leadership remains possible in Nigeria, insisting that a better nation is still within reach.
