TASFUED Appoints Prof. Samuel Oladipo as Sixth Vice-Chancellor

In a move that underscores continuity and institutional loyalty, Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASFUED) has appointed one of its pioneer academics, Professor Samuel Ekundayo Oladipo, as its sixth substantive Vice-Chancellor.

The appointment, approved by the university’s Governing Council and set to take effect from May 5, 2026, positions Oladipo as the third indigenous Vice-Chancellor of the institution—signaling a deliberate preference for homegrown leadership with deep institutional knowledge.

Announcing the decision after a council meeting, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Professor Rahamon Adisa Bello, emphasized that the selection process was strictly merit-driven. He highlighted Oladipo’s decades-long commitment, resilience, and alignment with the university’s founding philosophy as key differentiators.

Oladipo’s emergence reflects a strategic leadership transition rooted in experience and institutional memory. Having joined the institution in 1999 during its days as Tai Solarin College of Education, he has remained a constant figure through its evolution into a full-fledged university in 2005.

A Professor of Social Psychology, Oladipo brings a robust blend of academic depth and administrative expertise. Over the years, he has occupied several high-impact roles, including Chairman of the University Result Vetting Board, Pioneer Director of the Directorate of Research and External Relations, and Pioneer Dean of the College of Specialized and Professional Education.

His broader academic exposure includes a sabbatical at Adekunle Ajasin University and a postdoctoral fellowship in South Africa, reinforcing his global academic footprint. With over 70 scholarly publications and multiple academic books to his credit, Oladipo’s research portfolio spans critical areas such as gender-based violence, child abuse, and mental health interventions.

Industry observers see his appointment as a calculated step toward strengthening research output, academic standards, and institutional stability at TASFUED. His recent work on psycho-educational interventions for survivors of child sexual abuse also aligns with growing national conversations around social impact research.

Beyond academia, Oladipo’s pastoral role and reputation for administrative discipline add a leadership dimension that blends scholarship with moral guidance—an attribute many stakeholders believe could shape the university’s culture in the coming years.

The appointment was formally confirmed in a statement signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Sunday Oladapo Oke.
