Tinubu Reshuffles Cabinet, Replaces Finance and Housing Ministers

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has initiated a minor reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council, signaling a strategic adjustment aimed at strengthening economic coordination and service delivery under his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

In the shake-up, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, have been relieved of their duties.

A directive issued on Tuesday mandates that all handover processes be completed on or before the close of business on Thursday, April 23, 2026, underscoring the administration’s push for a swift and seamless transition.

According to a statement by Yomi Odunuga, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), the changes were conveyed through an official memo signed by SGF George Akume.

As part of the reconstitution, Taiwo Oyedele has been appointed as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, a role considered central to driving fiscal reforms and stabilizing the nation’s economic framework.

Similarly, Dr. Muttaqha Darma has been named Minister-designate for Housing and Urban Development, with expectations to reposition the sector amid ongoing challenges in urban planning and affordable housing delivery.

The Presidency described the reshuffle as a targeted intervention designed to enhance policy coordination and accelerate performance across critical sectors, suggesting a renewed focus on execution efficiency rather than broad structural overhaul.
