The Federal Government has directed civil servants operating within key sections of the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja to work from home, following planned road closures ahead of the national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to a circular issued by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, all access roads leading to and around the Federal Secretariat Complex will be closed from Friday, March 27 to Saturday, March 28, 2026. The measure is tied to the use of Eagle Square, located adjacent to the complex, as the venue for the APC convention.
As part of the directive, workers in offices located within Phases I, II, and III of the Federal Secretariat, as well as staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, have been instructed to work remotely on Friday to minimise operational disruptions and reduce traffic congestion in the area.
The circular, signed by Abdul S. U. Garba, Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office, was addressed to Permanent Secretaries and heads of ministries, departments, and agencies within the affected zones.
It emphasised that the temporary closure is necessary to ensure the smooth conduct of the APC convention while maintaining order and security around the vicinity. Heads of agencies were also directed to promptly notify their staff and ensure full compliance with the work-from-home arrangement.
The move reflects a proactive approach by the government to manage logistics and maintain administrative efficiency amid a major political gathering expected to draw significant attendance to the nation’s capital.
