IGP Orders Major Redeployment of Senior Police Officers Nationwide

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has ordered a sweeping redeployment of senior officers across the Nigeria Police Force as part of efforts to strengthen operational efficiency and enhance service delivery nationwide.

The directive was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, who noted that the exercise is aimed at reinforcing leadership capacity and ensuring a more effective command structure across Commands, Formations, and Departments.

“The postings are in line with the Force’s commitment to an effective command structure and the strategic deployment of personnel,” the statement said.

According to the release, several Assistant Inspectors-General (AIGs) have been reassigned to key departments and zones. AIG Ado Emmanuel has been deployed to Research and Planning at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, while AIG Joseph Eribo takes over at the Department of Armament.

AIG Miller Dantawaye has been posted to the Department of Operations, with AIG Henry Ifeanyi Uche assigned to Training and Development. AIG Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo will now head the Police Affairs Branch, while AIG Dahiru Mohammed has been deployed to Zone 15, Maiduguri.

Other postings include AIG Dankombo F. Morris to Zone 4, Makurdi; AIG Bello Shehu to Zone 14, Katsina; AIG Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba to Legal Services; and AIG Ahmed Musa to Community Policing.

At the level of Commissioners of Police (CPs), the redeployment affects several state commands. CP Haruna Alaba Yahaya has been posted to Jigawa State Command, CP Olugbenga Ayodeji Abimbola to Oyo State Command, and CP Olubode Ojajuni to Ogun State Command.

Similarly, CP Michael Adegoroye Falade has been assigned to Ekiti State Command, while CP Yakubu Useni Dankaro will head Adamawa State Command. CP Muhammed Sanusi Ahmed has been deployed to the Federal Capital Territory Command, while CP Olatunji Olaiwola Fatai takes charge of Lagos State Command.

The reshuffle also covers strategic units and formations, with CP Akan Ezima appointed Director of the NPF-NCCC in Abuja, CP Abbas Sule to the Special Protection Unit, and CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue to INTERPOL, Abuja.

Other notable deployments include CP Mnwadiogbu Cletus as Deputy Commandant of the Police Academy (POLAC), CP Moses Ashu Otta to SWAT, Abuja, and CP Rebecca Uchenna Okereke as Director of Music at the Force Headquarters.

The redeployment further extends to specialized units such as the Special Fraud Unit, K9, Safer Highway, and Community Safety and Crime Prevention, reflecting a broad restructuring across operational and administrative arms of the Force.

The Inspector-General charged all affected officers to bring their experience to bear in their new assignments, urging them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and service in the discharge of their duties.

The large-scale redeployment underscores ongoing efforts by the police leadership to reposition the Force for improved efficiency and responsiveness to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
