The Idera Pathfinder Foundation on Sunday hosted its Annual Ramadan Tafsir and mosque commissioning ceremony at the Ogun State Government Technical and Vocational College Mosque in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, in honour of the late Alhaji and Alhaja Okubadejo.
The event was organised by Abdulrahman Oladapo Okubadejo, Commissioner for Finance in the Ogun State Ministry of Finance and Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, who dedicated the reconstructed mosque to the memory of his parents.
The ceremony featured Quranic recitations, Ramadan reflections, and special prayers, attracting a large gathering of religious leaders, political figures, and community stakeholders.
Among the prominent clerics present were Miftaudeen Gbadegesin Ayanbadejo, the Grand Chief Imam and President of the League of Imams and Alfas in Ijebuland, and the Abeokuta-based Islamic scholar Imam Sugar, who holds the title of Waziri Musulumi of Yorubaland.
Speaking during the event, Okubadejo emphasised the need for peace, unity, and harmony among people of different religious backgrounds, explaining that the mosque reconstruction was inspired by the lifelong dedication of his late parents to service and philanthropy.
He pledged to sustain their legacy through continuous community development initiatives under the foundation’s platform.
The commissioner also acknowledged a ₦10 million donation made towards the maintenance of the mosque by Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, a senator and potential governorship aspirant in the 2027 Ogun State elections.
Okubadejo described the gesture by the Christian politician as a strong symbol of interfaith solidarity, highlighting the enduring bonds that unite Nigerians across religious divides.
Other dignitaries present at the ceremony included Abayomi Arigbabu, Ogun State Commissioner for Education, alongside the governor’s Special Advisers on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Political Affairs, Razaq Daddah and Biyi Adeleye.
Also in attendance were Dare Alebiosu, Executive Chairman of Ijebu Ode Local Government, and Mufu Oseni, APC Chairman in the local government area, as well as councillors, party leaders, community representatives, and business stakeholders.
The event reflected a strong spirit of faith, unity, and community collaboration, reinforcing calls for peaceful coexistence and collective development within Ijebu Ode and beyond.
