So-Safe Corps Arrests Suspected Cultist After Months of Surveillance in Ogun

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has arrested a 25-year-old suspected cultist in Ogbo, Ijagun area of the state, following months of intelligence gathering and surveillance.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement by the State Commander of the Corps, Commander (Dr) Soji Ganzallo, and made public through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi.

According to Ganzallo, the suspect, identified as Abiola Sunday, a resident of Imosan, had previously escaped arrest over allegations of cult-related activities, prompting the Corps to place him under sustained surveillance.

“He escaped arrest some months ago on allegations of cultism. Thereafter, a surveillance team was set up to track him,” the commander said.

The statement disclosed that operatives of the Leguru Area Command, led by Acting Area Commander CSC Joshua Owoseni, moved into action on January 15, 2026, at about 1:30pm after receiving credible intelligence on the suspect’s presence at the Ifesowapo Community. Surveillance operatives were immediately deployed and successfully apprehended him.

Ganzallo further revealed that the suspect, a former student of the Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, is believed to be a member of the Aiye Confraternity and had allegedly been terrorising residents and visitors within the Ogbo, Ijagun axis.

He confirmed that Abiola has since been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Igbeba Area Command, Ijebu-Ode, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Reassuring the public, the So-Safe Corps commander reiterated the agency’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Ogun State, stressing that the Corps will continue to work closely with other security agencies to rid communities of criminal elements.
