Shettima Leads Nigeria’s Delegation to 2026 World Economic Forum in Davos

Vice President Kashim Shettima is leading Nigeria’s delegation to the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, as the country intensifies efforts to attract global investment and position its economy for long-term growth.

The summit, scheduled to hold from January 19 to 23, 2026, will bring together world leaders, business executives, civil society actors and journalists to deliberate on pressing global economic challenges, technological innovation and climate action.

Shettima arrived in Switzerland after representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the inauguration of Guinea’s President, Mamadi Doumbouya, in Conakry on Friday. He was received on arrival by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; and officials of the Nigerian mission in Switzerland.

Nigeria’s participation at this year’s forum marks a significant milestone with the establishment of a sovereign pavilion on the Davos Promenade for the first time. The facility, known as “Nigeria House Davos,” was developed through a Public-Private Partnership and is designed to serve as a hub for high-level ministerial engagements, investment roundtables and cultural diplomacy throughout the forum. The Vice President is expected to formally commission the pavilion during the event.

Speaking to journalists, Dr Oduwole said Nigeria would leverage the platform to showcase concrete investment opportunities, adding that four strategic playbooks reflecting President Tinubu’s economic reform agenda would be presented. These focus on solid minerals, climate sustainability, agriculture, and the creative and digital economy sectors.

According to Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the Vice President, Shettima will present Nigeria’s 2026 economic outlook to global leaders, outlining the government’s priorities and reform trajectory.

The Vice President is also scheduled to participate in plenary sessions on the responsible deployment of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, quantum computing and biotechnology. In addition, he will hold bilateral meetings with heads of state, multinational corporate executives and leaders of international development finance institutions during the week-long forum.

Nigeria’s presence at Davos underscores the Federal Government’s push to deepen international partnerships, attract foreign investment and position the country as a competitive player in the evolving global economy.
