Staff of Sagamu Local Government Council have been urged to embrace punctuality, teamwork and renewed dedication to duty as key drivers of efficient service delivery in the new year.
The charge was given by the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Mrs. Temitope Ejide, while addressing workers during a New Year prayer session organised by the council’s Management in collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Sagamu Branch.
Mrs. Ejide emphasized that punctuality and teamwork must become non-negotiable values among staff, warning against lateness, absenteeism and the leakage of confidential information. She called on workers to step up their performance and remain committed to their responsibilities in order to strengthen service delivery and boost revenue generation for the local government.
“All hands must be on deck. Let us work hard to improve the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), and such revenue collected must be remitted to the coffers of the local government,” she said. “This is a new era in our dearest local government. Let us inject positivity and ensure Sagamu becomes synonymous with professionalism, integrity, and efficient service delivery.”
The HOLGA also disclosed plans to intensify in-house training and skill development programmes aimed at improving staff capacity, adding that workers would be encouraged to cultivate a savings culture as part of their personal and professional development.
Mrs. Ejide further charged staff to strive for excellence ahead of the 2026 Ogun State Local Government Service Award, expressing confidence that Sagamu could retain the honour. “There’s nothing stopping us from winning back to back. It is my vision for Sagamu Local Government,” she stated.
She concluded by expressing gratitude to God for a successful crossover into 2026 and for preserving the lives of staff despite the challenges encountered in 2025.
In his remarks, the Chairman of NULGE, Sagamu Branch, Comrade Wale Igayemi, thanked the Executive Chairman and the management team for their continuous support to the union. He also appreciated members of staff for their understanding, cooperation and unwavering support over the past year, while pledging the union’s continued collaboration with management to achieve the council’s goals.
The event set the tone for renewed commitment and collaboration as Sagamu Local Government begins the year with a focus on professionalism and improved public service delivery.
