Authorities of Ijebu-Ode Local Government have issued a public warning cautioning residents, developers and business owners against dealing with fraudulent contractors and unauthorized permit agents operating within the council area.

The warning was contained in a statement signed by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Dare Alebiosu, who clarified that the local government has not delegated or authorized any individual, association or third-party agent to collect money, process permits or award contracts on its behalf outside officially designated channels.

According to the statement, all official transactions, including payments, permit processing and contract-related matters, are conducted strictly through duly recognized offices and departments within the Ijebu-Ode Local Government Secretariat.

The council leadership expressed concern over increasing reports of impostors parading themselves as agents of the local government, allegedly extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public.

Residents were therefore strongly advised to exercise caution, verify all claims and ensure that any engagement with the local government is carried out only through authorized offices. The statement stressed that the council would not be held liable for any losses arising from dealings with unauthorized persons.

The local government reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and due process in its operations, urging members of the public to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities for prompt action.
