The Ogun State Government has announced plans to deliver 3,000 units of affordable housing across the state in 2026, as part of its drive to address housing deficits and promote sustainable urban development.
The Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Jamiu Omoniyi, disclosed this on Monday during a press conference in Abeokuta, where he reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality and affordable homes for residents.
Omoniyi commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for what he described as visionary leadership and sustained support for the housing sector, noting that the sector has undergone significant transformation since the inception of the current administration.
According to the Commissioner, the state has already delivered over 150 modern housing units under the Ibara GRA Urban Regeneration Project, a development he said reflects the government’s broader agenda of slum regeneration and urban renewal.
He outlined several major infrastructure and housing-related projects scheduled for execution in 2026, including the construction of an International Conference Centre, a modern Banquet Hall/Centre, as well as the Appeal Court Headquarters and Judges’ Residences.
In addition, Omoniyi revealed that the state would push forward key housing developments in strategic locations, such as Prince Courts Estate, I.S.E.Y.A Court, Havila Court, and Havens Court, aimed at catering to different income categories across the state.
“The Ogun State Government is committed to providing quality, affordable and sustainable housing for its citizens,” he said.
“We have delivered more housing units than all previous administrations combined and are on track to complete over 10,000 affordable homes by the end of this administration.”
The Commissioner expressed confidence that the housing investments would help meet the growing demand for decent accommodation, while also driving economic growth, slum regeneration and orderly urban expansion.
He urged residents and stakeholders to continue supporting the administration’s initiatives, noting that collaborative efforts remain critical to the successful delivery of the state’s housing vision.
“With the continued support of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, our partners, stakeholders and the good people of Ogun State, we are confident that the future we are building today will stand the test of time,” Omoniyi added.
