A member of the House of Representatives representing Ijebu-Ode, Odogbolu and Ijebu North East Federal Constituency, Hon. Olufemi Ogunbanwo, has commenced the construction and renovation of selected public school buildings across the constituency as part of efforts to improve the learning environment for pupils and teachers.
The lawmaker disclosed this during an inspection visit to one of the project sites, where he described education as a cornerstone of sustainable community development. He stressed that providing safe, comfortable and well-equipped classrooms is essential for enhancing academic performance and overall student welfare.
The ongoing renovation works are taking place at St. Luke Primary School, Imodi-Ijasi; Moraika Comprehensive High School; and St. Michael’s Primary School, Ododeyo, all located in Ijebu North East Local Government Area of Ogun State.
According to Ogunbanwo, the intervention includes the construction of new structures, rehabilitation of dilapidated classrooms, repair of damaged roofs, improvement of ventilation, and general upgrades aimed at creating a more conducive teaching and learning environment.
“Our children are the future, and investing in their education is not optional. These renovations are meant to restore dignity to our public schools and motivate both pupils and teachers,” he said.
The federal lawmaker assured constituents that the projects would be closely supervised during and after construction to guarantee quality execution, timely delivery and proper maintenance. He also revealed that plans are underway to complement the infrastructure upgrades with additional educational interventions, including the provision of learning materials and support for teachers.
He recalled that Molipa High School, Ijebu-Ode; Ogbogbo Baptist Grammar School, Ijebu North East; and Ikangba Comprehensive High School, Odogbolu Local Government Area, had earlier benefited from similar interventions.
Ogunbanwo added that the current renovation exercise would be completed in phases, with more public schools across the constituency slated to benefit as the project progresses, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening education at the grassroots level.
