Vigilantes arrest 4 over theft in Edo

The Edo State Security Corps has arrested four suspects over cable theft and shop breaking in the state.

Two of the suspects, Aliu Mohammed and Abdul Alelugena, were arrested for shop breaking and entering, while the other two were arrested for internet cable theft.

Aliu and Alelugena, who are alleged to be members of a four-man syndicate, were reportedly arrested after they broke into some shops around Amagba in Benin City and carted away items in the shops.

They reportedly broke into a hairdressing salon shop at Amagba, where they stole all the equipment in the shop and sold them.

Two weeks later, the suspects reportedly stormed another shop and succeeded in stealing items.

It was learned that luck ran out of them when they were intercepted by the men of the Edo State Security Corps who were on patrol in the area.

Also, two other suspects were arrested by the Corps over the alleged vandalisation of the internet cable connecting internet facilities at the King’s Square in Benin City.

The suspects were arrested at a drug spot located on Sokponba Road in Benin City.

The Deputy Corps Commander, Edo State Security Corps, Richard Balogun, who confirmed the arrest, said the suspects have been handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.
