The Ogun State chapter of the Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has urged Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel to put aside their political differences in the interest of peace, unity, and development.
In a communiqué issued Wednesday in Abeokuta, the group described the tension between the two political heavyweights as “disheartening” and warned it could disrupt governance and polarise citizens.
While acknowledging the contributions of both leaders to the state’s progress, Afenifere called on Yoruba elders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other stakeholders to mediate between the parties.
The group also appealed to Governor Abiodun to shelve any planned demolition of Daniel’s properties in Sagamu, stressing reconciliation over punitive measures.
Quoting the Yoruba adage, “Power is transient, but legacy is enduring,” the statement — signed by Comrade Akeem Temitope Akilo and Chief Kehinde Oladeinde — urged both men to embrace dialogue and mutual respect.
