In a bid to promote civic engagement and ease access to polling stations, the Ogun State Government, led by Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, has declared Friday, November 15, 2024, a work-free day for all civil and public servants. This initiative is aimed at encouraging citizens to travel to their local governments and take part in the local elections scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024.

The elections will see the election of chairmen for the state’s 20 local government areas, as well as 236 ward councillors. The move is in line with the state’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and participatory democracy.

In addition, all permanent secretaries and heads of government agencies have been instructed to comply with the circular to ensure a smooth and efficient electoral process.
