The initiative is expected to generate over 5,000 direct jobs and 15,000 indirect jobs while attracting investments that will stimulate regional growth.

Oyetola emphasized that the port aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to foster economic innovation and infrastructural development. He noted the pressing need for alternatives to congested coastal ports, citing the advantages of inland ports for quicker and more cost-effective goods transport.

Engr. Gbenga Dairo, the Commissioner for Transportation, reaffirmed the administration's commitment to economic growth, while Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro, called for infrastructure improvements to maximize the project’s benefits. The initiative is viewed as a significant milestone in the state’s ambition to become a leading logistics hub in Nigeria and West Africa.
