Blockade of inner streets for parties, social events no longer tolerated, Lagos Taskforce

The Lagos State Taskforce has said it will no longer tolerate the blockade of streets and roads in the state by individuals who carry out social activities like birthday parties and naming ceremonies thereby inconveniencing other road users.

In a statement by the Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, SHOLA JEJELOYE described the act as selfish and inconsiderate.

JEJELOYE disclosed that the Agency had to disrupt a birthday in Yaba when it was discovered that the celebrants and guests had occupied 95 per cent of the road.

He said the act slowed down vehicular movement and grossly inconvenienced Lagosians going about their business.

The Chairman further stated that areas like Lagos Island, Oworonshoki and Agege are major areas where such activities are predominant.

He appealed to Lagosians who are in the habit of blocking streets and roads in the State all in the name of carrying out some form of celebration, to desist immediately or face the wrath of the law.

He also warned residents that if such an event is to take place in these areas, express permission must be obtained from the appropriate authorities and a copy of the approval submitted at the Headquarters of the Agency before carrying out the planned social event.
