The Federal government has approved the exemption of Digital Economy sector from the five percent excise duty payment to lessen the suffering of Nigerians.

The government said it was convinced that including the sector in the Excise Duty will bog down the activities of the sector which has already grappling with over 41 taxes and levies already.

According to the government, the Presidential Committee on review of Excise Duty in telecom sector reports show that the sector is already overtaxed.
