Okupe Lists Problems with Nigeria’s Democracy

A former presidential spokesperson, Doyin Okupe, has taken to social media to explain why Nigeria’s democracy has problems.

Okupe, in a Twitter post, said no amount of change mantras or activism would change politicking in Nigeria except the problems surrounding its democracy are addressed.

Okupe listed seven “demons” that needed to be tackled to ensure progress.

They include Pervasive corruption, Illiteracy, Crippling poverty, Massive youth unemployment, Lack of respect for Rule of Law, Malleability of the Judiciary, and the absence of the fear of God.
