Again, NAFDAC Raises Alarm Over Killer Cough Syrups From India

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) is again calling for vigilance over the use of four India-made cough syrups linked to acute kidney injuries and death.

According to the World Health Organization, the four products are: Promethazine Oral Solution, Kofexmalin Baby Cough Syrup, Makoff Baby Cough Syrup and Magrip N Cold Syrup.

The NAFDAC Director-General, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, said the manufacturer, Maiden Pharmaceuticals had failed to provide guarantees about their safety.
