HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES RESOLVE TO REACH AGREEMENT TO END ONGOING STRIKE BY PUBLIC UNIVERSITY LECTURERS.

After several months of failed negotiations between the executive arm of the federal government and university lecturers, the legislative arm of government has expressed its determination to wade into the matter.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, FEMI GBAJABIAMILA, at a meeting with the lecturers said the House will hold further meetings with other stakeholders, and reach an agreement with the striking union.

The Speaker added that the resolutions reached by the House will then be presented to President MUHAMMADU BUHARI, upon his return from the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA.

Speaking at the meeting, President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities Professor EMMANUEL OSODEKE kicked against the attempts of the Federal Government to compel lecturers back to classrooms via a court order.
