Phase Two Of Okada Ban In Lagos State Kicks-Off Today In 4 More Local Government Areas


The phase 2 of the ban on commercial motorcycles also known as okada in Lagos state kicks-off today in 4 more local government areas.

 

The ban is expected to be enforced in 2 local council development areas (LCDAs) within Kosofe local government (Ikosi, Isheri and Agboyi-Ketu); 2 LCDAs in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government area (Isolo and Ejigbo);1 in Shomolu local government area (Bariga) and 1 in Mushin local government area (Odi-Olowo).

 

Meanwhile, over 500 security agents comprising the Police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, among other agencies, yesterday, embarked on a show of force.

 

The show of force was held in readiness of the enforcement of the okada ban, with the Lagos Commissioner of Police, ABIODUN ALABI, warning that violators of the ban would be arrested and prosecuted.

The Lagos state government has also announced that violators of the okada ban face 3 years in prison if prosecuted, while their motorcycles will be seized and crushed in public view.
