Ogun State Government says it has inaugurated Contributory Pensions Scheme Review and Consequential Pensions Adjustment Committees to ensure improved welfare for the public, civil servants, and pensioners.

It said this in a statement that this was in fulfillment of the Memorandum of Action signed by the Ogun State Government and the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress.

Inaugurating the committees at the governor’s office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Secretary to the State Government, TOKUNBO TALABI, said the welfare of both serving workers and retirees was relevant to the agenda of the Governor DAPO ABIODUN-led administration, and it had set machinery in motion to commence the payment of gross salary from July 2022.

Reports say that the state tasked the committees to critically examine the operations and implementation of the Contributory Pension Scheme, to determine the improved number of monthly pensions payable to retirees in the state and local governments, to cushion the effect of the current economic realities.
