Inspector General Of Police Orders Increased Police Presence In Federal Capital Territory After Recent Security Breaches

The Inspector General of Police, USMAN ALKALI BABA, has ordered the deployment of additional police forces to strategic areas in the federal capital territory.

The Force Public Relations Officer, MUYIWA ADEJOBI, in a statement said the IGP also charged the Force Intelligence Bureau to ensure robust information and intelligence gathering.

MUYIWA ADEJOBI added that the police force would not leave any stone unturned in protecting the Federal Capital Territory and its environs, and called on residents to synergize with the police to prevent any breach of security in the nation’s capital.

This comes after recent incidences in the FCT, including the attack on the Kuje prison, the attack on soldiers of the Presidential Guards Brigade, the shutdown of the Federal Government College, Kwali due to security reasons, among others.

A public affairs analyst AFOLABI OGUNLEYE said that the recent increase of insecurity is due to the collapse of the nation’s security architecture.
