The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has promised to conduct a free, fair, transparent and credible governorship election in Osun State.

INEC Chairman, Professor MAHMOOD YAKUBU, disclosed this while addressing a stakeholders’ meeting in Osogbo, the state capital.

Professor YAKUBU added that INEC was determined to ensure that the choice of who is elected as the next governor of the State lies entirely in the hands of voters.

The INEC Chairman noted that 12 out of the 14 activities contained in the timetable and schedule of activities for the election had been completed, saying that the last activates remaining were the last day of campaigns by political parties and the Election Day proper.

On his part, the Inspector-General of Police, USMAN BABA, said that the Police Force had deployed 21, 000 police officers to the state for the elections, warning against any plans to disrupt the exercise.
