The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has given reasons for picking Senator Kasim Shettima as his running mate despite agitations against a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Bola Tinubu in a statement, said that he prioritized national growth and development above “religious sentiments”, adding that Shettima’s career in politics shows that he is eminently qualified not only to deliver electoral victory, but, also, step into the shoes of the Vice President.

Bola Tinubu stated that if Nigerians truly understood the challenges facing the country, then competence in governance would be placed above religious sentiment.

The APC presidential candidate invoked the 1993 Presidential elections that was won by a Muslim/Muslim ticket, saying that the Spirit of 1993 is upon the nation in 2023.
