The Board of Trustees of the People’s Democratic Party has announced the setting up of a committee to meet and reconcile with Rivers state governor NYESOM WIKE. 

Chairman of the board, Senator WALID JIBRIL, who made the announcement in a statement, said the committee will be headed by the party’s presidential candidate ATIKU ABUBAKAR, with several members including the Vice-Presidential candidate Governor IFEANYI OKOWA, among other key party stakeholders.

Senator WALID JIBRIL added that the visit will take place immediately after the National Chairman IYORCHIA AYU and ATIKU ABUBAKAR returns back to the country.

Senator JIBRIN said that Governor WIKE had offered great help in building the party to its present status, adding that the party will do all it can to keep the Rivers state governor.

The reconciliation is part of efforts being made to pacify Governor WIKE who many say is aggrieved following his inability to win the party primaries, and the alleged sidelining of him by the party, and its presidential candidate ATIKU ABUBAKAR.
