The Supreme Court has affirmed a six-year jail sentence for a former Director of the Police Pension Fund, JOHN YAKUBU.

The court upheld the jail term originally handed out by the Court of Appeal back in 2018 over a pension scam alleged to have been conducted by the defendant.

The court also sustained the decision of the Court of Appeal ordering JOHN YAKUBU to refund the sum of 22.9billion naira to the Federal Government.

Justice TIJANNI ABUBAKAR in his ruling said that the plea of the defendant seeking to set aside the jail term was frivolous and lacking in merit.
