Nigeria and the Republic of Niger have agreed to strengthen their socio-economic and security co-operation to restore peace and security in their countries.

The agreement was reached at the official visit of Nigerien President, MOHAMED BAZOUM’S to President Muhammadu Buhari and Northern governors in Abuja.

Addressing newsmen, President BAZOUM noted Nigeria’s role in the war against terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities common to both countries in Sahel Region.

Meanwhile, Governor BELLO MATAWELLE of Zamfara State and Governor BABAGANA ZULUM of Bornu State said, the synergy between the two countries was to clamp down on the activities of bandits and terrorists in the Sahel regions.
