The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has extended its warning strike by eight weeks.
ASUU reached the decision after its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at its national secretariat in Abuja.
The union said the decision was taken due to the unwillingness of government to meet their demands in the four weeks they declared a warning strike.
ASUU blamed its decision on the insincerity of the government since it started the warning strike a month ago.
According to the lecturers, a series of meetings with government officials yielded nothing.
Some of ASUU’s demands include the revitalization of universities, increase in funding for education, earned academic allowances, among others.
