First Batch Of Nigerians From Ukraine Arrives In Abuja


After one day of delay, the first set of Nigerians being evacuated from Ukraine has finally arrived in the country.

 

About 450 Nigerians mostly students touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport, Abuja at 7:10 am, from Romania, where they had fled to following the invasion of Ukraine. 

 

Another set of Nigerians are also to be evacuated from Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary, with a total number of 5,000 Nigerians being projected to be brought back home.

 

The Federal Government said they will be given some money to enable them to get to their destinations.


Other flights are expected to arrive in the country in the coming days as nations battle to evacuate their citizens.

 

Already, several African countries had moved their citizens, mainly students, from the conflict zone.
