ESE BRUME has won Nigeria’s first medal at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics, after winning bronze in the women’s long jump event.

ESE BRUME leapt 6.97 meters to claim bronze behind silver medalist BRITTANY REECE of the United States and gold medalist MALAIKA MIHAMBO of Germany.

With the result, ESE BRUME joins BLESSING OKAGBARE and GLORY ALOZIE as the only Nigerians to win individual medals at both the World Championships and the Olympics.

Nigeria will have another shot at a medal, when wrestler BLESSING OBORODUDU takes part in the women’s 68kg freestyle final later today.
