The Zamfara State Government has announced that residents of the state can now obtain weapons in order to defend themselves against terrorists.
The Commissioner for Information IBRAHIM DOSARA in a press conference said the measure became necessary following the deteriorating security situation in parts of the state.
IBRAHIM DOSARA asked those who are willing to own guns to reach out to the state Commissioner of Police and obtain the license after satisfying the necessary criteria.
The state government also ordered for the recruitment of 200 additional Community Protection Guards in each of the 19 emirates of the state.
Additionally, the government has ordered that the shutdown of all markets within the Mada, Wonaka, and Ruwan Bore Districts of Gusau local government, as well as Yansoto emirate in Tsafe local government area, with motorcycle operations also banned.
