The United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund UNICEF says that one in three Nigerian girls is being sexually abused, while one in four Nigerian children suffers from violence.

The UNICEF’s Country Director for Nigeria, PETER HAWKINS, in a statement said the Children’s Day celebration comes at a challenging moment as the Covid-19 pandemic has increased the weakness of children to abuse and assault.

PETER HAWKINS, however said that Nigerian children are resilient, talented and aspire to do great things, while calling for the platform and encouragement to be given to the children.
