The special United Nations envoy for West Africa, MOHAMED IBN CHAMBAS has urged peaceful elections in Ivory Coast.
CHAMBAS met President ALASSANE OUATTARA who is running for a third term after his preferred successor died.
President OUATTARA's candidacy has caused tension in the country and led to protests.
CHAMBAS also met three of the president's challengers, electoral body officials and civil society representatives.
He urged all actors to ensure a peaceful and inclusive election and respect human rights.
The elections are scheduled for October 31.
