UGANDA POLICE ARRESTS 10 OFFICERS ACCUSED OF TORTURING WOMEN

The Uganda Police Force has said ten police officers in the country have been arrested for allegedly torturing a group of women while enforcing a lockdown to curb the spread of corona virus.

The officers were accused of caning 38 women and forcing them to swim in mud in the northern town of Elegu and would be held in custody until May 7.

Ugandan Police Spokesperson FRED ENANGA said the officers used a heavy-handed approach to disperse the women, adding that the incident was being investigated.
