Tanzania’s Prime Minister KASSIM MAJALIWA has announced the cancellation of this year's Union Day celebrations 

The Union Day commemorates the merging of Tanganyika and Zanzibar to become Tanzania and is one of the important dates in the country's calendar celebrated annually on April 26.

The Prime Minister also announced that President JOHN MAGUFULI has directed that the sum of 217 thousand dollars set as budget for the celebrations, be reallocated to the fund for fighting corona virus in the country.

Tanzania has a total of 53 corona virus cases with 4 deaths.
