Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents have attacked Katarko community in Gujba Local Government Council of Yobe State, burning down a primary school and a healthcare centre located in the community.

Eye-witness accounts say the gunmen stormed the community at about 5:30 am this morning when residents were going to the mosque for prayers.

Katarko community is 18 kilometres south of Damaturu the state capital, and has been attacked over 10 times since the commencement of the Boko Haram insurgency in the northeast.
