An international, non-governmental, social development organisation, the SOS Children’s Village has celebrated the 50th anniversary of its operations in Nigeria.
The landmark was celebrated in Lagos with the theme “50 Years of Impact: Nurturing Futures, Transforming Lives.”
The 50th anniversary celebration highlighted the organisation’s accomplishments centred on alternative care, family strengthening, youth development, advocacy, and partnership for quality care.
Speaking with newsmen, the National Country Director of the organisation, EHGOSA ERHUMWUNSE, said that in the last five decades, the SOS Children’s Village had been committed to making positive impacts in the lives of over 200,000 vulnerable young people.
According to him, the organisation had also indirectly impacted over a million people in Nigeria in the last 50 years.
He noted that the SOS Children’s Village's commitment remains strong in ensuring that every child experiences nurturing care, respect, and security, guiding them towards a promising future.
On his part, the Board Chairman of the organisation, Dr MICHAEL EZEANOCHIE, commended the federal and state governments, and donor partners for their support, by providing the enabling environment for the organisation to have impacted lives positively.
He stated that the SOS Children’s Village will continually strive to provide an environment mirroring a real family setup, enabling children to experience unrestricted care, love, and support essential for their happiness and growth.
One of the donor partners who was presented with an award for her immense support and exceptional dedication to the organisation, GANIYAT ADEOTI, promised to intensify her partnership towards the provision of high-quality alternative care to underprivileged children across Nigeria.
