SENATE URGES DPR TO ENFORCE BAN ON ILLEGAL COOKING GAS RETAILERS

The Senate has urged the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) to clamp down on illegal roadside retailers of Liquefied Petroleum Gas.

The resolution was the follow-up to a motion moved by Senator IBIKUNLE AMOSUN to enhance safety in the country.

The upper chamber also urged the DPR to step up the clamp down on illegal roadside retailers of petrol who operate without a valid licence or who operate within residential areas.

Senator IBIKUNLE AMOSUN said that if this essential commodity is not well managed and regulated, it could be a curse rather than a blessing because of the loss of lives and destruction of properties that were usually associated with it whenever anything went wrong.
