Governors elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have raised an alarm over the rate at which the Federal Government is borrowing money to fund projects in the country.
The PDP Governors Forum made this known as part of the resolutions reached at the end of a meeting held in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
The Forum said the current debt of over 36 trillion naira is becoming unsustainable relative to the nation’s revenue and GDP, adding that the borrowing could lead the country into bankruptcy if left unchecked.
The governors stated that all the gains of the PDP government under former President OLUSEGUN OBASANJO when the nation cleared its foreign debt obligations, had been destroyed.
The Governors also condemned the recent ban on Twitter, saying that a lot of Nigerians use the social media platform as a source of livelihood and business.
