The Osun State Government has declared Thursday, August 20 as a public holiday to celebrate Hijrah, the Islamic New Year.
The directive was contained in a press statement by Osun Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, FUNKE EGBEMODE.
The statement added that the State Government declared the holiday to give the Muslim Community in the State the opportunity of celebrating this year’s Hijrah.
EGBEMODE however warned that the holiday is not an approval for large gatherings or unauthorized meetings under any guise, while residents are enjoined to observe the safety guidelines against covid-19 as outlined by the government and the NCDC.
