The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has advised residents of floodplain areas in Ogun State to relocate from their houses, as heavy rainfall was being anticipated in the coming months.
The Southwest Zonal Coordinator, NEMA, SLAKU LUGARD, gave the advice while on a post-flood assessment tour of affected areas within Abeokuta South Local Government Area of the State, warning residents of buildings marked for demolition to vacate from the property, so as to prevent loss of lives.
He said the assessment was to evaluate the extent of damage done by the flooding, commending government for the ongoing dredging of rivers, to proffer lasting solution to the disasters.
Also speaking, the Director, Ogun State Emergency Management Agency, OLUFOLARIN IGE, urged residents to cooperate with government and adhere to all safety directives, assuring that their wellbeing remain paramount to the present administration.
