Manchester City defender RUBEN DIAS has been voted the Football Writers’ Association’s footballer of the year.

The Portugal international was a comfortable winner ahead of Tottenham forward HARRY KANE and City teammate KEVIN DE BRUYNE.

The 24-year-old Portuguese defender has enjoyed an outstanding first campaign at the Etihad Stadium helping the team win the League Cup and the Premier League, and also a spot at the Champions League final.
